SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 2
SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 2DISABLING PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions.
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
5. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
6. Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the underhood fuse center.
7. When disabling the roof rail module go to step 8, it the side impact sensor (SIS) needs disabling then go to step 11.
8. Remove the left rear sail panel.
9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the left/driver roof rail module connector (2).
10. Disconnect the left root rail module wiring harness yellow connector (2) from the left roof rail module (3).
11. Remove the left/driver door trim panel.
12. Remove enough of the water deflector to access the SIS.
13. Remove the SIS CPA from the left SIS connector (3).
14. Remove the SIS connector (3) from the SIS (1).
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. When enabling the SIS proceed to step 3, if the roof rail module needs enabling then go to step 7.
3. Install the left SIS connector (3) to the SIS (1).
4. Install the SIS CPA to the SIS connector (3).
5. Replace and secure the water deflector back over the SIS.
6. Install the left/driver door trim panel.
7. Connect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector (2) to the left roof rail module (3).
8. Install the CPA to the left roof rail module connector (2).
9. Install the left rear sail panel.
10. Install the SIR Fuse.
11. Close the underhood fuse center cover.
12. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
13. Perform the SIR Diagnostic System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Restraint Systems.
