Parking Brake Actuator: Service and Repair

Park Brake Actuator Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the rear tire and wheel.
3. Disconnect the rear brake cable at the equalizer (3).





4. Remove the parking brake return spring (6).
5. Remove the cable retaining clip (1).
6. Remove the cable (2) from the actuator lever.





7. Remove the parking brake shoe and lining (7).
8. Remove the rear wheel hub assembly.
9. Remove the parking brake bracket screws (6) and the parking brake bracket (5) from the support plate (4).
10. Remove the parking brake actuator (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the parking brake actuator (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the parking brake bracket screws (6) and the parking brake bracket (5) to the support plate (4).
^ Tighten the parking brake bracket screws (6) to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Install the rear wheel hub assembly (8).
4. Install the parking brake shoe and lining (7).





5. Install the cable (2) to the actuator lever.
6. Install the cable retaining clip (1).
7. Install the parking brake return spring (6).





8. Connect the rear parking brake cable at the equalizer (3).
9. Install the tire and wheel.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Adjust the parking brake.
