Receiver Replacement - Digital Radio
RECEIVER REPLACEMENT - DIGITAL RADIOREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment.
IMPORTANT: Do not swap digital radio receivers between vehicles. Swapping digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio Theftlock(r), and "XM Theftlock(r)" will display.
2. Remove the right side outboard I/P insulator.
3. Remove the digital radio receiver nuts (2).
4. Remove the receiver from the bracket.
5. Disengage the connector position assurance (CPA). Disconnect the I/P wiring harness connector from the receiver.
6. Disconnect the antenna cable from the receiver.
7. Remove the digital radio receiver.
8. To remove the digital radio receiver bracket, perform the following steps:
8.1. Remove the I/P outer trim cover.
8.2. Disengage the I/P fuse block retainer. Adjust the fuse block outboard slightly for access.
8.3. Remove the bracket bolts (4).
8.4. Remove the bracket from the I/P reinforcement (1).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. To install the digital radio receiver bracket, perform the following steps:
1.1. Align the bracket to the I/P reinforcement (1).
1.2. Install the bracket bolts (4).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
1.3. Install the I/P fuse block. Verify that the retainer is engaged.
1.4. Install the I/P outer trim cover.
2. Connect the antenna cable to the digital radio receiver.
3. Connect the I/P wiring harness connector to the receiver. Install the CPA.
4. Align the receiver to the bracket.
5. Install the digital radio receiver nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
6. Install the right side outboard I/P insulator.
7. Install the I/P compartment.
8. Perform the setup procedure for the digital radio receiver.
9. The vehicle must be parked outside in an open area within 24 hours after an activation call.
Turn the radio on:
9.1. Tune to the XM channel 0.
9.2. Record the electronic serial number (ESN) from the radio. The ESN is required for activation of the new receiver.
IMPORTANT: After replacement of a XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.
10. Call XM Radio at 1-800-852-XMXM (9696) to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
11. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
12. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC position with the radio turned ON for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
13. Once activated the radio will receive XM Radio channels.
