M/T - Clutch Actuator Bleeder Screw Alignment

Bulletin No.: 04-07-31-004

Date: August 11, 2004

INFORMATION

Subject:
Clutch Actuator Cylinder Bleeder Screw Alignment

Models:
2004 Pontiac GTO

Whenever a clutch actuator cylinder is reinstalled on models equipped with a manual transmission, the bleeder screw must be aligned in the center of the bell housing opening.

The illustration above shows a bleeder screw that is not aligned in the center of the bell housing opening. In this position, it will not be possible to fit a socket to the bleed screw for subsequent bleeding operations once the transmission is reinstalled.

In order to align the bleeder screw, it is recommended to install a long socket to the bleeder screw (1) prior to tightening the two actuator cylinder retaining bolts.
