Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the outer tie rock. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod Anal Replacement.
2. Remove the boot clamp (2).





3. Remove the boot clamp (2).
4. Remove the boot from the inner tie rod.

Installation Procedure





1. Verify the steering rack does not have grease or foreign material in the ventilation hole
2. Install the boot to the groove in the steering gear (3).
3. Install the boot clamp (2) in order to retain the boot to the gear.
4. Verify the boot is not twisted. dented or improperly folded.





5. Install the boot clamp (2) in order to retain the boot to the inner tie rod.
6. Install the outer tie rod. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement.
