Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
2. Disconnect the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) harness connector (4)
3. Remove the 6 brake pipes from the brake modulator assembly (2).
4. Plug the brake pipes in order to prevent loss or contamination of brake fluid.
5. Remove 2 nuts (1) from the brake pressure modulator.
6. Remove the brake pressure modulator assembly from the bracket (3).

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the brake pressure modulator assembly (2) to the bracket (3). Secure with 2 nuts (1)
- Tighten the brake modulator assembly nuts to 8.5 Nm (75 inch lbs.).
2. Remove the plugs from brake pipes and connect the brake pipes to the brake modulator assembly (2).
- Tighten the brake pipe fittings nuts to 9.5 Nm (84 inch lbs.).

4. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
5. Perform Diagnostic System Check - ABS.
