Intake Manifold Lower
NOTE: Engine Code K has two bolts which are hidden beneath the upper intake. These bolts are located in the right front and left rear corners of the lower intake manifold. It is necessary to remove the upper intake manifold to service the lower intake.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Upper intake manifold.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Upper radiator hose.
5. Generator.
6. Drive belt tensioner.
7. EGR valve outlet pipe.
8. Lower intake manifold bolts and manifold.
IMPORTANT: To complete installation, observe the following assembly tips:
^ Clean the cylinder block, heads and intake manifold sealing surface of all oil with a suitable solvent.
^ Clean the intake manifold bolts and bolt holes of adhesive compound.
^ Apply thread lock compound to the intake manifold bolt threads before assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Lower intake manifold gasket.
2. Lower intake manifold.
3. Apply GM P/N 12345382 threadlocker or equivalent on the bolt threads.
Tightening Sequence:
4. Lower intake manifold bolts including the two hidden bolts. Torque in sequence to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. EGR valve outlet pipe.
6. Drive belt tensioner.
7. Generator.
8. Upper radiator hose.
9. Fill cooling system.
10. Upper intake manifold gasket.
11. Upper intake manifold.
Tightening Sequence:
12. Upper intake manifold bolts and stud. Torque in sequence to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.).
13. Negative battery cable.
