Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Description and Operation
Thermac Air Cleaner - Wax Pellet Operated:
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The THERMAC system regulates the air intake temperature without the use of a vacuum motor. The air regulating damper is controlled by means of a self contained, actuated wax pellet assembly, attached to the air cleaner housing. When the air entering is cold, below 85~F (30~C), the wax material, which is sealed in the actuator, causes the damper door to close off the outside air inlet. This allows all entering air to be heated by the exhaust manifold. As the air warms, between 85~F (30~C) and 130~F (55~C), the wax material expands. Then the damper door drops down, and allows intake air to combine (hot and cold). If the air inlet temperature exceeds 130~F (55~C), the damper door only allows outside air to flow into the air cleaner housing.
