Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Fig. 3 Exhaust Manifold Replacement & Nut Tightening Sequence:

1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect spark plug wires and the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove pre-heater from exhaust manifold.
4. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold, then remove manifold attaching nuts and the manifold, Fig. 3.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Clean manifold and cylinder head mating surfaces and install a new gasket prior to installation. Tighten exhaust manifold attaching nuts to specifications and in sequence shown in Fig. 3.
