Brake Shoe: Adjustments

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Mark relationship between rear wheels and hubs, then remove wheel and tire assemblies.
3. Remove brake drum setscrew, then the brake drum. If drum is difficult to remove, proceed as follows:
a. Ensure parking brake cable releases.
b. Loosen parking brake cable.
c. Remove access hole plug from backing plate, then move parking brake lever until lever stop rests on brake shoe.
4. Turn adjuster assembly in as far as possible, Fig. 3.
5. Ensure parking brake lever stops make contact with edge of shoe web. If contact is not evident, loosen parking brake cable at equalizer as necessary.
6. Install brake drums and wheels. then lower vehicle.
7. Depress brake pedal at least ten times until clicking of adjustment actuator is no longer heard.
8. Adjust parking brake as necessary.
