Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

1. If right hand exhaust manifold is to be replaced, remove exhaust pipe and exhaust manifold to turbocharger attaching nuts.
2. If right hand exhaust manifold is to be replaced, remove oxygen sensor from exhaust manifold.
3. If left hand exhaust manifold is to be replaced, loosen alternator and A/C compressor brace nuts.
4. Disconnect spark plug wires from spark plugs.
5. Raise and support vehicle.
6. Remove turbocharger exhaust pipe and clamp from exhaust flex coupling.
7. Disconnect exhaust crossover pipe from exhaust manifold.
8. If left hand exhaust manifold is to be replaced, remove engine oil level dipstick and tube.
9. Remove exhaust manifold to cylinder head attaching bolts, then remove exhaust manifold. If left hand exhaust manifold is to be replaced, position alternator and A/C compressor to permit exhaust manifold removal.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
