Brake Shoe & Lining Installation
Rear Caliper Assembly:
Shoe And Lining Assembly:
1. Lubricate, then install new two-way check valve into piston assembly.
2. Install inboard shoe and lining, ensuring wear sensor is positioned at leading edge of shoe during forward rotation of wheel.
3. Install outboard shoe and lining.
4. Using a brass drift and hammer, drive in one spring pin until pin just begins to emerge from inboard face of caliper.
5. Tap in other spring pin as noted above, but stop when pin is just through outboard section of caliper housing.
6. Position pins so slots face each other, then install retainer springs as follows:
a. Hook one end of spring under pin installed in step 3, ensuring mid-section of spring is positioned over shoe flange. Repeat procedure for remaining spring.
b. Using a screwdriver, press down on other end of springs while sliding remaining spring pin inboard as outlined in step 3.
c. After installation, ensure retainer springs are equally centered on shoe flanges, and that spring ends project under pins an equal amount.
7. Install wheels, lower vehicle, then fill master cylinder to proper level.
8. Apply brake pedal several times to correctly seat linings.
