The second step in diagnosing this system is analyzing the warning lamp sequence. The system uses two warning lamps, a red BRAKE warning lamp and an amber ANTI-LOCK lamp. By observing when these lamps illuminate, individual components and sub-systems may be isolated as likely causes of a system failure.
A normal indicator lamp sequence is shown in Fig. 10. The sequences shown in Fig. 11, indicate abnormal lamp behavior. Each lamp sequence in the graph is divided into seven areas which represent vehicle status. Behavior of BRAKE and ANTI-LOCK lamps are represented in horizontal rows below vehicle status headers. BRAKE and ANTI-LOCK lamp status are indicated by shaded areas in horizontal rows below each vehicle status header. Righthand diagonal shading indicates illumination of ANTI-LOCK lamp. Lefthand diagonal shading indicates illumination of BRAKE lamp. A vehicle status block which is not entirely shaded means that the lamp is only on for a portion of the test period. Use the charts in Figs. 10 and 11 along with LAMP SEQUENCE TEST PROCEDURE to diagnose any system failures.
