BROWN SUBSTANCE IN COOLANT RESERVOIR
Subject: (EXPLANATION OF CONDITION)
Models
Affected: 1989 SUNBIRD MODELS W 2.0L (VIN K, M)
A brown substance may be noticed in and/or at the bottom of the coolant reservoir on some 1989 Sunbird models built at Lordstown and equipped with 2.0L engines, (VIN Code K, M). The brown substance is actually residue from engine cooling system sealant pellets installed at the plant during vehicle assembly. This residue is in no way harmful to the engine or cooling system. It is not necessary to drain and flush the cooling system for this condition.
