Subject: REDUCED A/C COOLING AT IDLE (DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AT THE INTERMEDIATE SWITCH)
Models
Affected: 1988 GRAND PRIX
Customer comments have been received of reduced A/C cooling at idle on the 1988 Grand Prix models. This may be caused by an A/C intermediate pressure switch (internal corrosion) which will not allow the engine cooling fan to engage with the A/C "On." To address this condition, disconnect the switch harness connector, cover the connector end with tape to prevent water entry, and tape back wire harness. This will allow the cooling fan to run whenever the A/C is "On." The switch is located on the hi-pressure (liquid line) clamped to the left-hand side of engine compartment rail near the condenser and directly below the suction line.
