Cylinder Head Torque:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Intake manifold.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain engine block.
4. Exhaust pipe.
5. Dipstick tube attachment.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Serpentine belt.
8. A/C compressor and lay aside.
9. P/S pump and lay aside.
10. Loosen rocker arm until able to remove push rod.
11. Head bolts and cylinder head.

NOTE: The gasket surfaces on both head and cylinder case deck must be clean of any foreign matter and free of nicks of heavy scratches. Cylinder bolt threads in the case and threads on the cylinder head bolts must be clean. Dirt will affect bolt torque.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Place the gasket in position, over the dowel pins, with the note "This Side Up" showing.
2. Cylinder head.
3. Coat cylinder head bolt threads with sealer, GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent, and install bolts.
4. Torque bolts in sequence to 55 Nm (41 ft lbs), then torque in sequence an additional 90 degrees.
5. Push rods and loosely retain with rocker arms. Make sure lower ends of pushrods are in lifter seats.
6. Intake manifold.
7. Raise and support vehicle, install dipstick tube bracket.
8. Exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold flange.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Adjust valve lash.
11. Continue intake manifold build up.
