Caliper Installation

Caliper Assembly:




1. Inspect mounting bolts (8) and sleeves (9) for corrosion. If corrosion is found, use new parts, including bushings, when installing caliper. Do not attempt to polish away corrosion.

Lubricating Caliper Cavity:




2. Liberally fill both cavities in housing (25) between bushings (11) with silicone grease.
3. Install sleeves (9) in caliper (25).

Caliper Attachment:




4. Install caliper (25) over rotor in mounting bracket (31).
5. Tighten caliper mounting bolts (8) to 40-61 Nm (30-45 lb. ft.).
6. Install boots (10).
7. Install inlet fitting (29) with bolt (30), if removed, to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft.).

Parking Brake Cable Attachment:




8. Disconnect nut (1), lever (2), lever seal (6) and anti-friction washer (7).
9. Clean contamination from caliper surface in area of lever seal (6) and around actuator screw (19).
10. Install anti-friction washer (7).
11. Install lubricated lever seal (6) with sealing bead against caliper housing (25).
12. Install lever (2) on actuator screw hex with lever pointing down.
13. Install nut (1), while holding rotated lever (2) toward front of car, to 40-55 Nm (30-40 lb. ft.). Rotate lever back against stop on caliper (25).
14. Install return spring (3).
15. Install parking brake cable (27).
16. Bleed caliper if inlet fitting was removed.
