Choke Light - Inoperative

Subject: CHOKE LIGHT INOPERATIVE
1986 6000 WITH LE2 2.8L V-6 ENGINE AND U52 ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
CONDITION:
The choke light is inoperative on 1986 6000's with LE2 2.8L V-6 engine and U52 electronic instrument cluster. Only cars built at Oshawa (VIN Code 9), before V.I.N. 2G2AG19X3G9273606, are affected.
CAUSE:
Choke light wire misindexed in I.P. cluster connector #2.
CORRECTION:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove I.P. cluster as follows:
a) Remove left and center lower trim plates.
b) Remove center trim pad.
c) Remove cluster.
3. Unsnap connector #2 from I.P. (black connector). Pull connector out for access. Remove terminal from cavity #8 of connector (light blue wire) and reinstall in cavity #11. See page 8A-82-7 of 1986 Pontiac 6000 Service Manual for view of connector.
4. Note this change on pages 8A-82-7, 8A-82-0, and 8A-32-0 of your Service Manual.
5. Reinstall I.P. cluster.
6. Reconnect negative battery cable.
