Assemble

Figure 6:

1. Install third speed gear, coned side toward front of transmission, and needle bearing on front of mainshaft.

2. Install third and fourth synchronizer on mainshaft with large chamfered end facing toward front of transmission, and retain with selective snap ring. Refer to Fig. 6 for snap ring identification and size.

3. From rear of mainshaft install second speed gear with coned end facing toward rear of transmission, and needle bearings, Fig. 5.

4. Install first and second synchronizer on main shaft with large chamfered end facing toward rear of transmission, Fig. 5.

5. Install spacer, needle bearings and first speed gear with coned end facing toward front of transmission, Fig. 5.

6. Install first gear thrust washer with slots toward gear.

7. Using tool J-22912-01, press bearing onto mainshaft with groove facing toward front of transmission, Fig. 7.
