Oil Level Indicator - Low Reading

Subject: LOW OIL LEVEL INDICATOR READING - 1983 2.5L ENGINES



The bracket on the oil level indicator tube has been spot welded or brazed to the tube through 1983.. The
spot welding can produce protrusions inside the tube which restrict the dipstick from being fully seated and will provide an erroneously low oil level indication on the dipstick. Adding oil to provide the "full" indication can actually overfill with possible oil aeration resulting.
If this condition is encountered, replace the oil level indicator tube with part number 10027337 from WDDGM. All stock from WDDGM under this part, number (10027337) is of the brazed construction.

The oil fill recommendations for this engine is three
(3) quarts with or without a oil filter change..
