Replacement (Upper)

UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD

Fig. 3 Upper Intake Manifold Removal:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Battery negative cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Air cleaner.
4. Acoustic engine cover.
5. Remove or disconnect the following from throttle body:
a. Bracket with throttle control cables.
b. Electrical connections.
c. Coolant hoses.
d. Vacuum hoses.

6. Front spark plug wires.
7. Loosen and reposition ignition coil bracket with:
a. Coils.
b. Purge Solenoid.
c. Vacuum canister solenoid.

8. Manifold air pressure sensor.
9. Brake booster hose.
10. Vacuum hoses from upper intake.
11. EGR valve.
12. Generator brace.
13. Upper intake manifold bolts.
14. Upper intake manifold with throttle body.

CLEAN
- Gasket material from mating surfaces.
- Sealing surfaces with degreaser.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Gasket.
2. Upper intake manifold with throttle body.
3. Upper intake manifold bolts.

TIGHTEN
- Bolts/screws to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.).

4. Generator brace.
5. EGR valve.
6. Vacuum hoses to upper intake.
7. Brake booster hose.
8. Manifold air pressure sensor.
9. Ignition coil bracket with:
a. Coils.
b. Purge solenoid.
c. Vacuum canister solenoid.

10. Front spark plug wires.
11. To throttle body:
a. Bracket with throttle control cables.
b. Electrical connections.
c. Coolant hoses.
d. Vacuum hoses.

12. Acoustic engine cover.
13. Air cleaner.
14. Refill cooling system.
15. Battery negative cable.
