Disassembly and Assembly (Lower)


LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD

TOOL REQUIRED:
- J 21882 Intake Manifold Coolant Pipe Installer

DISASSEMBLE
1. Coolant outlet assembly bolts and outlet.
2. Thermostat.
3. Heater inlet pipe nipple.
4. Engine coolant temperature sensor.
5. Intake manifold coolant pipe and retaining screw.
- Carefully pry intake manifold coolant pipe out of lower intake manifold and discard.

CLEAN
- Intake manifold gasket surfaces.
- Injector bores
- Injector nozzles.
- Intake manifold bolts and studs.

ASSEMBLE
1. New intake manifold coolant pipe using J 21882.
- Apply sealant GM P/N 12345493 to end of intake manifold coolant pipe.
- Lightly tap intake manifold coolant pipe into bore of lower intake manifold.

2. Engine coolant temperature sensor.

TIGHTEN
- Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 to threads of sensor.
- Sensor to 23 Nm (17 lb. ft.).

3. Heater inlet pipe nipple.

TIGHTEN
- Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 to threads of pipe nipple.
- Pipe nipple to 30 Nm (22 lb. ft.).

4. Thermostat.
5. Coolant outlet.
6. Coolant outlet assembly bolts.

TIGHTEN
- Coolant outlet assembly bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
