Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

Removal

1. Disconnect electrical connector from fluid level sensor.






2. DisconnectBrake pipes from master cylinder. Plug open pipes to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
3. Remove two attaching nuts.
4. Remove Master cylinder.


Installation

1. Install master cylinder with attaching nuts to 27 Nm (20 lb.ft.).
2. Connect Brake pipes to 20 Nm (15 lb.ft.).
3. Connect Electrical connector to fluid level sensor.






4. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid. Proper level is to the MAX fill indicator level in opening on top reservoir.
5. Bleed hydraulic system.
6. Recheck fluid level.
