Upper Control Arm

UPPER CONTROL ARM

DESCRIPTION

The upper front control arm used on this vehicle is made of a high strength aluminum alloy.
The upper control arm attaches to the steering knuckle through a conventional style ball joint in the control arm. The control arm is mounted to the frame using two pivot (cam) bolts that mount through two rubber isolator bushings that are pressed into the control arm.
The only replaceable components of the front upper control arm are the isolator bushings.

OPERATION
The upper control arm supports the upper end of the steering knuckle through the use of a ball joint. Working in conjunction with the lower control arm, it allows for the up and down movement of the suspension during jounce and rebound travel.
The two pivot (cam) bolts used to fasten the upper control arm to the frame of the vehicle are also used to adjust camber and caster when performing a front wheel alignment.
