Lower Control Arm
DESCRIPTIONEach lower front control arm used on this vehicle is made of a high strength aluminum alloy.
The lower control arm attaches to the steering knuckle through a conventional style ball joint in the control arm. It is mounted to the frame using two pivot bolts that mount through two rubber isolator bushings that are pressed into the control arm.
A rubber isolator bushing is mounted on the top of the lower control arm for attachment of the push rod to the arm. This bushing is the only replaceable component of the lower control arm. If any other bushing or ball joint is found to be defective, the entire lower control arm will require replacement.
OPERATION
The lower control arm supports the lower end of the steering knuckle through the use of a ball joint. Working in conjunction with the upper control arm, it allows for the up and down travel/movement of the suspension during jounce and rebound.
