Differential Assembly: Service and Repair
1. Raise vehicle and support front of rear springs with floor stands.2. Drain lubricant from differential housing.
3. Remove rear wheels. Do not remove brakes drums.
4. Disconnect brake lines at wheel cylinders. Cap brake line fittings to prevent loss of fluid.
5. Disconnect parking brake cables.
6. Mark propeller shaft universal joint and pinion flanges for reassembly, then remove propeller shaft.
5. Disconnect shock absorbers from spring plate studs, then loosen rear spring U-bolt nuts and remove U-bolts.
6. Remove axle assembly from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
