Fuel Injection Mixer Replacement


1. Reduce the internal pressure of the fuel pipes and hoses by completing the following operations:
a. Remove the rear seat cushion and carpet. Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.
b. Start and run the engine until it stalls, then turn the ignition switch to OFF.
c. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
d. Connect the fuel pump harness connector.
2. After releasing fuel pressure, let the engine cool, then remove the engine coolant.

Fuel Injection Mixer:






REMOVAL
1. Remove the breather hose connections. Remove the air intake hose, and pipe, and discard the intake pipe O-ring.
2. Remove the accelerator cable.
3. On vehicles with automatic transaxles, remove the throttle cable.
4. Remove coolant and vacuum hose connections.
5. Remove the engine control wiring harness at the connections.
6. Remove the high pressure fuel hose at the connection, and remove the fuel return hose. Discard the high pressure hose O-ring.
7. Remove the four bolts securing the fuel injection mixer to the intake air plenum and remove the injection mixer.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: The fuel injection mixer base gasket, and connection O-rings are not re-usable and must be replaced upon removal.

1. Install a new gasket.
2. Install the injection mixer and torque the bolts, in a cross-pattern, to 11-14 lb-ft (15-20 Nm).
3. Connect the high pressure fuel hose, with a new O-ring, and reconnect the fuel return hose.
4. Connect the engine control wiring harness at the connectors.
5. Connect the coolant and vacuum hoses at the connections.
6. Reconnect the accelerator cable, and on automatic transaxle equipped vehicles, connect the throttle cable.
7. Reconnect the intake air pipe, and breather with a new O-ring, and reconnect the breather hose.
8. Refill the engine coolant, reconnect the fuel tank connectors, and reinstall the rear seat.
9. Adjustments must be made to the Throttle Position Sensor, Idle Speed Control Servo, and Idle Speed setting.
