Inspection
DISASSEMBLY1. Lightly clamp oil pump in a vise with shaft facing downward.
2. Remove two screws from cover.
3. Push shaft upward and remove shaft and drive gear assembly.
4. Pry deflector plate from assembly and remove strainer. The relief valve is staked into place and is not serviceable.

INSPECTION
1. Check endplay. Endplay should be 0.001 - 0.006 inch.
2. Check gear backlash. Backlash should be 0.002 - 0.008 inch. If not, replace pump gears.
3. Check cover for flatness with a 0.002 inch feeler gauge.
4. Use compressed air to check relief valve for proper movement.
ASSEMBLY
1. Lightly lubricate all parts.
2. Install driven gear and drive gear/shaft assembly.
3. Place cover on pump body and install cover screws.
4. Rotate shaft in each direction. If any binding is detected, disassemble pump and inspect for nicks on gears and/or foreign material.
