When the ignition switch is in the ``start'' position and the backup lamp/starter lockout switch is closed, battery voltage is applied through fuse F5 to the starter relay and the park/neutral relay at terminal No. 2. The starter relay energizes and battery voltage is applied through the ignition switch, starter relay and wire No. 46 to the starter solenoid, Fig. 1. The starter contacts close and battery voltage is applied to the starter motor. The park/neutral relay also energizes and applies voltage to the injection electronic control unit (ECU).
