Idle Speed: Adjustments
1. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached.2. Turn A/C system and all electrical accessories off.
3. Adjust curb idle speed to 870-950 RPM.
4. Check and adjust idle mixture as follows:
a. Disconnect electrical connector from 140°F thermocontact located at lower front of engine, then connect a jumper wire between connector terminals.
b. Disconnect and plug PCV hose.
c. Connect a voltmeter to ECU wire connector 22, located on right inner front fender near air filter.
d. Correct voltage is 7.0-7.4 volts with engine running at 900 RPM on models equipped with manual transmission, or 950 RPM on models equipped with automatic transmission.
e. Remove tamper resistant plug as described under ``Tamper Resistant Plug, Replace'' in the ``Fuel Injection'' section.
f. Adjust voltage to 7.2 volts by turning mixture adjusting screw, Fig. 15, with idle speed set at 900 RPM on models equipped with manual transmission, or 950 RPM on models equipped with automatic transmission.
