SUBJECT: WATER ENTRY THROUGH REAR WINDOW
MODELS: ALL 405 VEHICLES
COMPLAINT:
Water under the rear carpet and/or under the rear seat
CAUSE:
Water enters the vehicle at the top corners of the rear window between the mastic bead and the body flange. It then travels along the body flange to the bottom of the window where it overflows to the rear parcel shelf, behind the rear seat, and under the carpet.
CORRECTION:
- Remove trim molding
- Pull back the rubber window seal and apply a bead of window sealer or mastic, such as that contained in the window installation kit P/N 9798.96 or equivalent, extending well beyond the upper corners in both directions. Retest for water entry to ensure repair.
- Reinstall trim molding
WARRANTY INFORMATION:
This repair will be accepted when performed within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period of three (3) years and/or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
