SUBJECT: RECALL CAMPAIGN NO. 89V158 PASSIVE SEAT BELT SYSTEM


As you are aware from previous communications, Automobiles Peugeot has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 1989 Model Year 405 Peugeot "S" Sedan and 1990 Model Year 405 Sportswagons. Even if this defect does not currently exhibit itself, the repair must be made anyway as a preventive measure.

Specific, instructions regarding the proper modification procedures for this recall were included in Service Bulletin No. 367, Class 13. Keep in mind that you will need to order the Modification Kit, which will be made available through your Servicing Warehouse.

In our continuing effort to reduce the amount of preparation needed when completing a Product Recall Campaign Voucher, PMA has prepared a preprinted voucher. Each vehicle owner will receive directly from PMA a Recall Voucher for their vehicle. This voucher will be used for Recall Campaign No. 89V158 (Peugeot Passive Seat Belt System Modification).

The Recall Campaign Voucher consists of four(4) parts: PMA Service Department (Warranty Copy); Dealer's Copy; Customer's Copy; plus a Vehicle Transfer Copy (to be used for any change in ownership); and it will be pre-printed with the following information:

Labor: 225 (1989 Sedans); or 991316 (Sportswagon)

HOW TO COMPLETE THE PRODUCT RECALL CAMPAIGN VOUCHER:

Step 1: Perform the installation in accordance with the Peugeot Service Bulletin No. 367, Class 13, dated December, 1989.

Step 2: Enter on the Recall Campaign Voucher the following information:

^ Dealership's Account Number ^ Repair Date MO/DAY/YR
^ Claim Number ^ Mileage

Step 3: The voucher must be signed by the Service Manager and the owner of the vehicle.
Upon completion of the repairs, it will be necessary to submit the completed PMA Service Department (Warranty Copy) to your Distributor's/ National Warranty Department for processing and reimbursement. The Dealer Copy should be retained at your Dealership; and the Customer's Copy should be given to the Customer upon completion of the repairs.

REIMBURSEMENT:

Upon receipt of the Recall Campaign Voucher by the National Warranty Department, the voucher will be processed for payment in the normal manner. Credit will appear on your Warranty Statement referencing "R" and your R. O. Number. Your Dealership will be credited for the special Recall Repairs involved, plus 25% Handling Charge and the applicable Labor will be calculated at your Warranty Labor Rate.

Additional blank Recall Campaign Vouchers may be obtained from the National or Distributor's Warranty Department.
