SUBJECT: TRANSAXLE AND/OR SHIFT SELECTOR REPAIR INFORMATION

MODELS: 1989 TO 1991 MODEL YEAR 405 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

REPAIR INFORMATION:





A new shift selector cable end socket, P/N 2454.A4, must be installed during repairs requiring:

- removal/replacement of the automatic transaxle
- any removal of the socket (A) from the ball selector (B) on the automatic transaxle


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

- Count the number of turns it takes to remove tlie original socket (A) from the cable end (C) on the transaxle side and reinstall the new part with the exact same number of turns it took to remove it from the cable end

- Before reattaching the socket to the transaxle, ensure that the cable end socket aligns freely with the ball on the transaxle selector; if necessary, adjust the routing of the cable to prevent any tension between the socket and the ball selector. Push socket onto ball selector.


WARRANTY INFORMATION:

This repair will be accepted when performed within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period of three (3) years and/or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
