Repair Procedure:
Fig. 1:
405 Sportswagon
- From inside cargo area, open jack/handle access door
- On "S" Models only: Remove the original antenna ground strap and retighten the lower antenna bracket screw.
- Drill a 6.5 mm (1/4") diameter hole 15 mm below the carpeted area, as shown in Figure 1.
Fig. 2:
405 Sedan
- Remove the left side trunk spring cover retaining clip
- Prop the trunk open and remove the left side spring
- Remove the left side trunk trim panel
- On "S" and "Mi16" Models only: Remove the original antenna ground strap and retighten the lower antenna bracket screw.
- Drill a 6.5 mm (1/4") hole through the left side trunk spring bracket, as shown in Figure 2.

405 Sedan and Sportswagon
- Using a piece of emery cloth:
Clean the area directly behind the previously drilled hole to the bare metal. (Figure 1 on Sportswagon, Figure 2 on Sedans)
ON "DL" MODELS ONLY: Clean the area around the top of the antenna aluminum tube as shown in Figure 3.
Fig. 4:
ON "DL" MODELS ONLY: Install and tighten the ground strap P/N 0097.G2 to the top of the antenna aluminum tube using a clamp P/N 0097.G3, 6 mm screw, starwasher and nut. (Figure 4)
Fig. 5:
- ON "S" AND "Mi16" MODELS ONLY:
Install and tighten the ground strap P/N 0097.G1 to the power antenna body using the original mounting screw, as shown in Figure 5.
Fig. 6:
- ON ALL MODELS:
Tighten the opposite end of the ground strap onto the body panel/trunk spring bracket using a new 6 mm screw, star washer and nut installed as shown in Figure 6.

- Reinstall the trunk trim panel, spring and cover clip (Sedans)
