SUBJECT: STANDARDIZATION OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ON SIDE VIEW MIRRORS
MODELS: ALL 405 VEHICLES
THE FACTORY HAS BEGUN SUPPLYING SIDE VIEW MIRRORS FOR 405 VEHICLES WITH A SINGLE 5 PIN CONNECTOR. PREVIOUSLY THE MANUALLY OPERATED HEATED MIRROR WAS SUPPLIED WITH A SINGLE 2 PIN CONNECTOR. THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED HEATED MIRROR WAS SUPPLIED WITH A 2 PIN AND 3 PIN CONNECTOR. IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE THE NEWER CONFIGURATION MIRRORS PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING CHANGES ARE MADE:
PROCEDURE: Manually Operated Mirrors (DL Models)
- Remove the two red wires from the 5 pin mirror connector (see instructions for releasing the double lock terminals).
- Install the red wires into a new 2 pin connector, P.N. 6542.J8 wires can be installed in any order.
Electrically Operated Mirrors (S and Mi16 Models)
- Remove all 5 wires from the 5 pin mirror connector (see instructions for releasing the double lock terminals).
- Install the red wires into a new 2 pin connector, P.N. 6542.J8. Wires can be installed in any order.
- Using the 3 pin black female connector from connector kit, P.N. 6541.54, install the remaining wires in the following order:
white wire pin 1
brown wire pin 2
black wire pin 3
To release a double lock terminal from its connector proceed as follows:
- Unclip and lift the flap on the back of the connector.
- push wire and terminal all the way up into connector.
- Insert a small flat bladed screwdriver or terminal release tool in the center of the terminal and pull wire down. Hold wire in this position and remove screwdriver or tool.
- Insert screwdriver tool between the rolled over side of the terminal and side of connector, and pull down on wire and remove from socket.
