BULLETIN NO.: 436
DATE: JANUARY, 1992
SUBJECT:
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER BAR CODE LABEL
MODELS:
1990 AND 1991 PEUGEOT 405 CALIFORNIA VEHICLES
The bar code Vehicle Identification Number label affixed to 1990 and 1991 California 405 vehicles does not include all the information necessary to be read by the bar code scanners used in California Smog Check stations.
To avoid problems when retail customers bring their Peugeot 405 for a Smog Check Inspection, the present label must be replaced with a revised label.
This new label is unique to every vehicle and if it is damaged or lost a second label cannot be readily obtained.
DEALER INVENTORY
The revised bar code VIN label will be mailed under separate cover to dealerships that currently have the subject vehicles in their inventory.
OWNER NOTIFICATION:
Retail customers will be notified that they can either replace the label utilizing the following procedure or bring the revised label to an authorized Peugeot dealer for replacement.
