Code Extraction With The TAD 99 Factory Tester
1. Connect the tester to the green 2-pin connector (M720) and to the battery.
2. Place the selector (3) to position #1 on the tester.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "RUN" (ON) position.
Tester display: 00
4. Press the green button for at least 3 seconds.
Tester display: 12 (Code 12 indicates start of test sequence)
Wait a few seconds before pressing the green button again to continue the sequence.
5. Press the green button for at least 3 seconds.
Tester display: (fault code number)
Take note of all the stored fault codes. Refer to the fault code chart.
6. Press the green button for at least 3 seconds.
Tester Display: (fault code number) or a code 11 will be displayed.
Up to 5 codes may be stored in the fault memory. Code 11 signals the end of the test sequence and there are no other codes stored. Refer to fault code chart.
7. Repair the indicated faults or repeat the test.
Be sure to disconnect the tester and turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position before attempting repairs. Disconnecting components and wiring harness connectors with the ignition switch in the "RUN" (ON) position may set additional codes and cause permanent damage to the Motronic system.
8. To erase the memory press the red button until the letters "EF" appear in the display.
"EF" indicates that the memory has been erased.
