Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

Check for damaged components, cracked hoses, and loose connections and verify that the canister does not contain liquid. To check remove the canister hoses and inspect for the presence of liquid fuel. If liquid fuel is present repair or replace necessary components.

Canister Purge Valve:

Charcoal Canister Purge Valve

1. Remove the purge valve electrical connector.
2. Using a set of suitable test leads apply 12v. to 1 of the 2 terminals on the purge valve. Ground the remaining terminal. Operation of the valve should be heard and felt.
