SUBJECT: NEW PAINT CODES FOR 1987 MODELS
A revised alphabetic Paint code designation has been introduced on 1987 model year vehicles (except some "Liberte" models which still have numerical paint codes).
The first letter of the paint code identifies the type of paint finish applied at the factory:
A--: two stage clear coated
B--: single stage clear coated (not used at this
time on any 1987 U.S. models)
P--: non clear coated
E--: no longer used on 1987 models
The second and third letter identify the color coat:
