Timing Cover Fanshaft - Revised

Subject: REVISED DIESEL TIMING COVER FANSHAFT TORQUING PROCEDURE
This bulletin supercedes Bulletin No. 094
On all timing covers currently supplied by N.P.D. under P/N 0318.77 the fanshaft keyway has been eliminated and a hex head (10 mm. across flats) has been added to the shaft.
When installing this new timing cover, use a new 22 mm across flat fan hub nut (P.N. 6934.21.) and torque it to 8 daN-m (58 ft.lbs.).
Torquing Procedure:
- Tools required: ^ beam or reversible type torque wrench
^ 10 mm, 6 point socket
^ 22 mm, offset box wrench
- Install timing cover on engine.
- Install fan pulley and hub onto fanshaft.
- Apply Loctite P/N 9730.66 or locally available equivalent onto fan hub nut.
- Hand tighten fan hub nut (1) P/N 6934.21.
- Using a 22 mm offset box wrench, hold fan hub nut (1) while torquing the fanshaft hex head (2) in a counterclockwise direction to 8 daN-m (58 ft.lbs.).
