Subject: TIMING COVER REPLACEMENT ON DIESEL ENGINE VEHICLES
NOTE: Supplement to Class 1 Service Bulletins Numbers:
- 113 Timing cover Replacement On Turbodiesel models.
- 121 Timing cover Replacement On Normally Aspirated Diesel models.
As indicated in Parts Bulletin 84A 3-0-1, timing cover P/N 0318.77 is no longer available. The new replacement timing covers are supplied with factory installed pulley and fan hub. These new timing covers must be installed according to vehicle application and equipment:
1) P/N 0317.01, All 505 and 604 XD2S - XD3T Turbodiesel.
NOTE: 1981-82 and 83 505 models up to V.I.N.: 0334749, as well as 1982 and 83 604 models up to V.I.N.: 0103170; MUST be equipped with a 360 mm diameter fan, shroud, and deflector in accordance with Class 1 Service Bulletin 113.
2) P/N 0317.02, 504 XD2 - XD2C as of V.I.N.: 2533536; 1982 505 XD2C as of V.I.N.: 0316001; 1980-81 505 XD2 - XD2C equipped with a 360 mm diameter fan, shroud, and deflector in accordance with Service Bulletin 121.
3) P/N 0317.03, 1980-81 505 XD2 - XD2C still equipped with a 385 mm diameter fan.
