Disassembly & Cleaning

5) Disassemble injector using injector holding fixture P/N 0090.82 to avoid surface damage or permanent distortion. Keep each injector parts together, do not mix with other assemblies.
NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH THE INJECTOR BODY AND NEEDLE EXCEPT AFTER HAVING DIPPED YOUR FINGERS IN TEST FLUID.

6) Remove any carbon deposit from the outside of the nozzle using the brass wire brush. Remove any carbon deposit from the tip of the needle.

7) Polish the needle seat with a piece of close grained hardwood dipped into test fluid.
8) Visually inspect the needle valve for apparent damage or wear. A rough machined appearance on the pressure shoulder is not a sign of wear.

9) The needle valve should be dipped in clean test fluid and inserted into the nozzle body. Hold at a 45~ angle, pull out the needle valve one-third of the way then allow the valve to slide down, under its own weight, to its original position.

If the valve fails this test, clean again and retest.

10) Reassemble all parts of injector, WHICH MUST BE PERFECTLY CLEAN, as shown below.

11) Torque injector assembly cap to holder, and tighten to 6 daN-m (45 ft.lbs.) as shown below.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN AS THIS WILL CAUSE PERMANENT DISTORTION TO THE INJECTOR HOLDER AND NOZZLE AND WILL DESTROY THE UNIT BY BINDING NEEDLES.
