Subject: 1983 MID-YEAR MODIFICATIONS TO THE 505 SEDAN


CLASS 1 AND 12 - ENGINE/ELECTRICAL


- Starting with V.I.N. : 0332776 for gas engine vehicles and 0332961 for diesel engine vehicles



a new protective boot is installed over the radiator thermocontact (declutchable and auxiliary fan thermocontact).


^ Protective Boot P/N : 1265.03

^ New Thermocontact P/N : 1264.14, gas and turbo diesel : 1264.15, normally aspirated diesel



- Starting with V.I.N. : 0338197 for gas engine vehicles

0338258 for diesel engine vehicles the cooling fan relays and diodes are mounted on the forward section of the left inner fender and are protected from the elements by a plastic housing. There is no change to the wiring logic.
CLASS 8 - BRAKES

- Starting with V.I.N. : 0339998 all U.S. 505 vehicles have been fitted with front brake disc protectors. These protectors must be removed during pre-delivery inspection.



CLASS 10 - WHEELS AND TIRES


- Starting with V.I.N. 0339276, introduction of a screw type spare tire carrier locking system, with a longer jack handle.

To remove the spare tire:

^ Using the jack handle loosen screw (1), approximately 15 turns.

^ Lift the spare tire carrier and disengage it from the latch (2).

^ Latch P/N : 7615.26
^ Centering Washer P/N : 7615.32
^ Jack Handle P/N : 6742.23
CLASS 13 - BODY AND TRIM


- Starting with V.I.N. : 0339363 for gas engine vehicles and 0339556 for diesel engine vehicles

^ Elimination of the rigid stainless steel moulding and retaining clips on front windshield.


^ Introduction of a windshield weatherstrip which is used to retain a flexible plastic moulding.


^ Front Windshield P/N: 8115.94 (1)

^ Gasket P/N: 8120.58 (1)

^ Left Moulding P/N: 8122.84 (1)

^ Right Moulding P/N: 8122.85 (1)

^ Lower Moulding P/N: 8122.86 (1)

CLASS 15 - GENERAL


- Starting with V.I.N. : 0336215 for gas engine, auto trans. vehicles, 0336610 for gas engine, std. trans. vehicles, 0336380 for diesel engine, auto trans. vehicles, and 0336784 for diesel engine, std. trans. vehicles

^ Elimination of the cruise control dump switch on the brake pedal.


^ Introduction of a cruise control cut-out solenoid. This new solenoid is mounted in the engine compartment above the fuse box.

^ Solenoid P/N : 1625.99
