Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Oldsmobile)

Removal Procedure

1. Apply the park brake.




2. Position the shifter to the neutral position.
3. Using a small flat-bladed tool, remove the shifter knob U-clip (1).
4. Remove the shifter knob by pulling upward.




5. Lift the console trim plate to disengage the retainers.
6. Disconnect the traction control switch connector.
7. Rotate the shift indicator lamp socket counterclockwise. Remove the socket from the trim plate.
8. Release the traction control switch retainers, and remove the switch.
9. Remove the trim plate from the transmission shift opening.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the traction control switch to the trim plate.
2. Place the shift indicator lamp socket into the trim plate opening. Rotate the socket clockwise to secure.
3. Connect the traction control switch connector.
4. Align the trim plate retainers to the slots in the front floor console.
5. Install the trim plate. Press the trim plate into place until fully seated.




6. Position the shifter knob to the shift lever.
7. Install the shifter knob U-clip (1). Press the clip into place until fully seated.
8. Position the shifter to the PARK position.
9. Release the park brake.
