Surge Tank Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Drain the cooling system.





2. Reposition the hose clamps on top of the surge tank.
3. Disconnect the coolant hoses on top of the surge tank.
4. Remove the radiator surge tank bolt.





5. Reposition hose clamp on the coolant return hose.
Disconnect the coolant return hose.





6. Disconnect the low coolant switch connector from the surge tank.
7. Remove surge tank.

Installation Procedure





1. Position surge tank in the vehicle.
2. Connect the low coolant switch connector to the surge tank.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the surge tank bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Connect the coolant return hose
5. Reposition clamp to secure coolant return hose.





6. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator surge tank.
7. Reposition hose clamps to secure coolant hoses to surge tank.
8. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank.
9. Inspect for leaks.
