Quick Connect Fitting(S) Service (Plastic Collar)
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION:
^ Refer to Relieving Fuel Pressure Caution in Service Precautions.
^ Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Caution in Service Precautions.
^ Refer to On-Vehicle Fire Extinguisher Caution in Service Precautions.
NOTE: Refer to Cover and Plug Openings Notice in Service Precautions.
IMPORTANT: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Blow out dirt from quick-connect fittings at both ends, using compressed air.
3. Squeeze the plastic tabs of the male end connector.
4. Pull the connection apart. Repeat the procedure for the other fitting.
5. Wipe off the male pipe end using a clean shop towel.
6. Clean or replace the components or assemblies as required.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Refer to Fuel Pipe Fitting Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Apply a few drops of clean oil to the male pipe end.
2. Push both sides of the quick-connect fitting together in order to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.
3. Pull on both sides of the quick connect fitting in order to make sure the connection is secure.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
5. Inspect the fuel system for leaks by performing the following steps:
5.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
5.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
5.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
