Scan Tool Data Definitions
Airbag Warning Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the air bag indicator as commanded by the IPC.Analog Dim: The scan tool displays 0.1 to 13.6 V. The IPC uses the instrument panel lamps dimming control circuit to determine the intensity of the IPC displays. Higher voltage corresponds to higher intensity of the electronic displays in the IPC.
Antilock Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the ABS indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Brake Warning Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the brake system indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Change Oil Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CHANGE OIL indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Cluster Part Number: The scan tool displays the 2 digit part number of the IPC.
Coolant Hot Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the engine coolant temperature indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Crank: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The IPC displays Yes if it senses voltage at the crank voltage circuit.
Cruise Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the CRUISE indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Display Trip Reset Sw.: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the TRIP RESET switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On.
Driver Door Switch: The scan tool displays Open/Closed. The IPC monitors the driver door ajar switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Open (door is open).
ECT Sensor: The scan tool displays -40 to +151°C (-40 to +304°F). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the engine coolant temperature sensor. The voltage is inversely proportional to the engine coolant temperature.
Engine Oil Level Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch, where an open switch is displayed as Low (low engine oil level).
Engine Oil Life Remaining: The scan tool displays 0-100%. The PCM calculates the remaining engine oil life.
Engine Oil Pressure Switch: The scan tool displays Voltage. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure switch, where a closed switch is displayed as 0 Volts (low engine oil pressure).
Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0-9999 RPM. Engine speed is computed by the PCM from the 3X reference input. It should remain close to desired idle under various engine loads with the engine idling.
Fuel Level: The scan tool displays 0-103%. The PCM calculates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank based on the input from the fuel level sensor. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the fuel level percent.
Fuel Level Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-5 volts. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the fuel level sensor.
Ignition 0: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC displays On if it senses voltage at the ignition 0 voltage circuit.
Ignition 0: The scan tool displays 0-16 volts. The voltage measured at the ignition 0 voltage circuit of the IPC.
Ignition 1: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC displays On if it senses voltage at the ignition 1 voltage circuit.
Julian Date of Build: The scan tool displays the 4-digit build date of the IPC.
Key In Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The BCM monitors the ignition key alarm switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Yes (key is in the ignition).
LCM Lights On Chime: The scan tool displays On/Off. The BCM monitors the headlamp switch, where an open switch is displayed as On (headlamp switch is in the off position).
Left Turn Signal: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the left turn signal switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Active.
Location of Manufacture: The scan tool displays Metramoros/Flint/Delnosa. The scan tool displays the manufacture location of the IPC.
Low Coolant Input: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the engine coolant indicator switch, where an open switch is displayed as On (low coolant level).
Low Coolant Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low engine coolant level indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Low Fuel Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low fuel indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Low Oil Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the low engine oil level indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Low Trac Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW TRAC indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Low Wash Input: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the windshield washer solvent level switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Active (low washer fluid).
Low Washer Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the LOW WASH indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Oil Pressure Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the engine oil pressure indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The IPC monitors the park brake switch, where a closed switch is displayed as On.
Park Lamp: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the headlamp switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Active (headlamp switch is in the park or head position).
PROM ID: The scan tool displays a 4-digit number that the identifies the PROM.
Right Turn Signal: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The IPC monitors the right turn signal switch, where a closed switch is displayed as Active.
Seat Belt Lamp: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The state of the fasten safety belt indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Security Lamp: The scan tool displays Active/Inactive. The state of the SECURITY indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Service Vehicle Soon Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Software Release, Day: The scan tool displays the 2-digit number which corresponds to the day of the IPC software release.
Software Release, Month: The scan tool displays the 2-digit number which corresponds to the month of the IPC software release.
Software Release, Year: The scan tool displays the 2-digit number which corresponds to the year of the IPC software release.
Software Version: The scan tool displays the 2-digit number software version of the IPC.
Traction Off Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the TRAC OFF indicator as commanded by the IPC.
Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0-100 mph. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the vehicle speed.
Vehicle Speed Sensor: The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-155 mph). The PCM monitors the voltage at the signal circuit of the vehicle speed sensor. The voltage is proportional to the vehicle speed.
Volt Lamp: The scan tool displays On/Off. The state of the charging system indicator as commanded by the IPC.
