Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair
Yaw Rate Sensor/Lateral Accelerometer ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise the front floor center console armrest.
2. Remove the two screws that retain the front floor console trim plate to the front floor console.
3. Open the front floor console cupholder.
4. Position the front floor center console trim plate aside to gain access to the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer.
^ Gently pull up on the front floor console trim plate.
^ Disconnect the traction control switch wiring harness connector from the traction control switch.
5. Remove the two yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer retaining nuts.
6. Disconnect the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer wiring harness connector from the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer sensor (1) and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer (1) into the vehicle and connect the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer wiring harness connector to the sensor.
2. Install the two yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer retaining nuts.
3. Position the front floor center console trim plate back onto the front floor center console.
^ Connect the traction control switch wiring harness connector to the traction control switch.
^ Align the front floor console trim plate to the front floor console and carefully press the retaining clips into the correct mounting holes in the front floor console.
4. Close the front floor console cupholder.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the two screws that retain the front floor console trim plate to the front floor console.
^ Tighten the two retaining screws to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
6. Close the front floor center console armrest.
7. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - ABS to verify the repair.
