Power Steering Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Remove the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.
5. Remove the accessory wiring junction block and move aside.
6. Remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement.
7. Remove the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Hose Replacement.
8. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
9. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
10. Remove the power steering pump assembly.
11. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
4. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Hose Replacement.
5. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement.
6. Install the accessory wiring junction block.
7. Install the accessory drive belt to the pump.
8. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Surge Tank Replacement in Cooling System.
9. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
10. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
12. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks.
13. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
