Evaporative Emissions Hose: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Do Not attempt to repair the [1][2]EVAP pipes or the connecting hoses. Replace the damaged EVAP pipes or the connecting hoses are damaged. If the nylon EVAP pipe becomes kinked and cannot be straightened, it must be replaced.
^ Refer to [1][2]EVAP Pipes and Hoses Notice in Service Precautions.
^ Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

IMPORTANT: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing the fuel system components.

CAUTION: Refer to Hoist and Additional Support Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the hardware retaining the [1][2]EVAP pipes. Note the location of the attaching hardware for installation.
3. Remove the splash shield from the left rear bumper fascia in order to access the EVAP canister.
4. Disconnect the [1][2]EVAP pipes at the EVAP canister.




5. Disconnect the [1][2]EVAP vapor recirculation pipe (1) at the fuel filler pipe.
6. Disconnect the [1][2]EVAP purge pipe (2) at the rear of the fuel tank.
7. Disconnect the [1][2]EVAP fuel limiter vent valve pipe (3) at the fuel limiter vent valve.
8. Disconnect the [1][2]EVAP vapor pipe (4) at the rear of the fuel tank.
9. Remove the [1][2]EVAP pipes.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Properly secure the [1][2]EVAP pipe in order to prevent chafing of the pipe.

IMPORTANT: Route the replacement [1][2]EVAP pipe as the original EVAP pipe was routed.




1. Install the [1][2]EVAP pipes to the vehicle.
2. Connect the [1][2]EVAP pipes at the EVAP canister.




3. Connect the [1][2]EVAP vapor recirculation pipe (1) at the fuel filler pipe.
4. Connect the [1][2]EVAP purge pipe (2) at the rear of the fuel tank.
5. Connect the [1][2]EVAP pipe (3) at the fuel limiter vent valve.
6. Install the hardware retaining the [1][2]EVAP pipe.
7. Verify all of the [1][2]EVAP pipe clips and fasteners are properly installed.
8. Install the splash shield to the left rear bumper fascia.
9. Lower the vehicle.
